Omaha, NE

Friday, July 6, 2018 - West Omaha / Gretna, NE -- Site 7 KOA We left KC at 4 pm and arrived in NE at 7 pm on the nose!  We had ordered pizza at the campsite and it was delivered hot directly to our site!  We set up - it felt quicker - ate our pizza, and went for a bike ride around the campground.  We bought chocolate at the camp store, a few postcards and oreos and started a new tradition - s'moreos!  You open an oreo and put the roasted marshmallows between the cookies -- yum!  The kids loved the playground -- they had a jump pillow, zip line, jump basketball, slack lines and a see saw.  The fireflies were out and it was a great evening.  Tomorrow is a big day at the Omaha Zoo.  Goodnight!

Vintage Airstream Rally, Big Lake State Park

Thursday, May 17, 2018 We arrived at the rally around 6:40 pm - right after the welcome dinner!  We had s'mores in a bowl -- waffle bowls, mini marshmallows, blueberries and chocolate chips -- melted on a grill and topped with ice cream!  Delicious!  We chatted with other 'streamers and enjoyed the sunset over the lake - we even saw a water plane landing!  The kids watched Peter Rabbit and we drank wine until some other Airstream friends arrived around 11 pm.  We helped them get settled in with the BLT (they purchased it from us) and we crashed out!  Morning brought eggs and sunshine - the boys played on the playground while the girls slept in.

Eleanor RIGby

Saturday, April 21, 2018 We drove straight to Franklin, WI and stayed at a Hampton Inn and Suites about 7 minutes from the Airstream Dealer.  We ate breakfast, washed the Suburban, and headed to the dealer.  There she was --- Eleanor -- in all of her glory!  We got a tutorial and ate lunch (it was an open house for the Nest unveiling) and got on the road at about 1 pm.  We decided to stop earlier than anticipated -- we wanted to make it to Des Moines -- but we went to the Rock Island, IL / Quad Cities KOA .  It was off season and a little sad, but it fit the bill for the day.  We got there at about 4:30 pm, plugged in and hit the playground -- a huge metal slide and see saws kept the kids attention for quite a while.  We decided it was time to get dinner started but the water wouldn't work even though our tank was full!  We called the tech at Ewald and found out that the pump red wire was not connected.  I cooked burgers, asparagus and bake...

A New Chapter

We parked the BLT at the farm and built a roof overhead.  The Argosy is "across the hall" in the stall next door with a boardwalk between them.  In April 2018, we decided to bite the bullet and buy A BRAND NEW AIRSTREAM!  We can hardly believe it, but we miss camping and travel in the vintage beasts just didn't have the appeal as it once did.  We've decided to name her Eleanor RIGby.

St. Louis, MO to Martha's Vineyard, MA

Friday, July 15, 2016 We trekked to St. Louis after Stu got home from work.  The West St. Louis / Historic Rte 66 campground is our favorite so far!  We arrived at 8:30 pm and our friends met us there!  They had an outdoor movie playing (Big Hero 6!) and we popped popcorn and chatted - so fun!  The kiddos went to sleep early and we set an alarm for 5:30 am - off to Granny's birthday party tomorrow! Saturday, July 16, 2016 We drove to Cincinnati and had a scary sway issue when we got sucked into the draft of a semi.  Yikes!  We finally made it to Cincinnati and checked into the beautiful Winton Woods Campground  and went to the Mariemont Inn .  It's a beautiful old hotel in downtown Mariemont -- it reminds me so much of our little neighborhood!  Granny's party was wonderful and it was so fun to catch up with extended family.  Monday we checked out and headed back to the campground.  There's a beautiful lake - we biked to ...

Friday, September 25, 2015 We provisioned the BLT all day and when the kids got out of school, we hit the road.  The drive was rural and beautiful and only took about two hours.  We stopped off at DQ for dinner and refueled the truck.  The campsite is beautiful!  It is on a big lake and there are 20 vintage airstreams here.  We got set up while the kids played at the playground.  Finally, we took a glass of wine over to the campfire and met the other rally folks.  Some had their grandkids with them, so our kids played tag in the dark with glowsticks and made s'mores.  Fun was had by all!
