Grand Teton National Park
Yesterday we got settled into our campground and saw three other Airstreams! We chatted with one couple from Washington - they were super sweet! We went to bed early in preparation for the big day today! I’m not a morning person but I did my homework and knew we had to get serious about our one day in the park. Apparently the parking lot at the Jenny Lake visitor’s center fills up by about 9 am, so I got everyone moving so we could be there early. It was a 45 minute drive so we left around 6:45 am. We took the boat shuttle around 8 am. It was easy and empty - so our timing was perfect! We were able to get a round trip family pass for $50. Well worth it! The air was chilly and we rode on the boat with about 15 other people. We arrived to the other dock and immediately followed the trailhead to Hidden Falls. We heard the falls WAY before we saw them! The river was rushing and COLD! The falls were well worth the hike. We continued up and up and up until we reached Inspiration Point. It was stunning! After enjoying the view, we made our way back to the dock. All in all, the hiking and boat adventure took us about two hours. After the boat ride we were ready for lunch (about 10:30 am!). We found a great picnic spot and enjoyed our sandwiches +++. We used an app based audio tour of the park - it was fascinating and directed us around
and helped us prioritize which sights to see! Our next stop was taking the truck up Signal Mountain. It was beautiful!! The rest of the day, we completed the loop. Our only wildlife sightings were a yellow bellied marmot and some bison. The scenery was incredible, though! We headed back towards camp and diverted off for a quick bike ride (we packed the bikes but didn’t use them in the park). The evening was spent relaxing at the campground and taking to our new Airstream friends. He is a major biker and he helped us with some minor repairs. We ended up riding our bikes to an Italian restaurant nearby called Calico. The kids had cheap pasta ($3.50 kids meals!) and we split a salad and pizza. It was delicious! When we got back, everyone showered and we fell into bed after an amazing but packed day! Whew!
