Salina, KS KOA

July 13, 2018

I got the surprise of a lifetime today!  We were due to go camping at 5 pm and Stu decided to work from home in the morning.  I was a little confused but figured he had some things he had to get done.  I was buzzing around getting Jude ready for swimming lessons and Stu said he couldn't hold off on my Birthday surprise any longer.  I went outside and a car transporter was outside with a chili red mini cooper on it with white racing stipes!  What?!  My complete dream car!  We took it for a spin and it's amazing!  I was SO surprised.  We packed up and hitched the truck and I headed to swimming lessons.  Jude did great!  Stu got home from work and we were on the road.  I had to take the mini for a quick drive to the gas station before we left.  We drove to Salina, KS that night - through Topeka and the Flint Hills.  We passed a caravan of 3 Airstreams - most likely headed home from the International Rally in Oregon.  After a crazy rainstorm, we arrived at the KOA.  It was great!  The jump pillow and playground were wet, so we hung out in the camper.  Unbeknownst to the kids, we tried out the convection oven and made "slice 'n bake" cookies - yum!  We drank Happy Camper red wine and opened up the windows.  There was a great cross breeze!  Perfect night - PS - the KOA is RIGHT off the highway!  Super convenient!
