Early morning wake up call! Up at 5, we hitched up and performed our pre-flight checklist. Today we have an 8 hr 15 minute drive to Fireside RV Resort in Wilson, WY.
Tuesday, July 21, 2015 We trekked to the KOA in West St. Louis and it was perfect! Jump Castle at 6 pm, a quick swim and Shrek outside with popcorn kept the kids very happy. We discovered some bad spots in out tires but thankfully there was a tire shop right next door to the campground! We hung around at the campsite, used the playground, and rented a race car bike for entertainment. After lunch, we were back on the road. We drove to Smithland, KY and stayed on the river at Birdsville Campground. We ate porkchops and watched the tugs pushing barges up and down the river. Stu caught some sort of bug and had a fever and overnight our debit card numbers were stolen! Someone in South Africa emptied our account -- it was quite an adventure! Now we're back on the road headed to Altoona Lake in TN. Off to Charleston the next day! Friday, July 24, 2015 We spent the night with full hook ups - whi...
September 29, 2018 We woke to the bugle call and an old fashioned phone tree. We had 11:30 am marsh tour tickets and they said to arrive two hours early to park and get there in time. We got a swish parking spot and wandered around the craft fair -- stopping for some hot food before the tour (it was chilly out!). The bus tour of the marsh was really interesting. Cranberries are perennial and some plants are really old! They grow on trailing vines and the farmers drive equipment through the trenches at harvest time and then flood the bogs. Cranberries have four air chambers inside so the ripe fruit floats to the top. They corral the fruit and gather it up. After the tour, Jude and I rented waders and went into a simulated bog. It was my favorite part of the trip! We bought cranberry honey and cinnamon dried cranberries and some cranberry beer. We came back to the site and relaxed until dinner. We witnessed an insta...
July 13, 2018 I got the surprise of a lifetime today! We were due to go camping at 5 pm and Stu decided to work from home in the morning. I was a little confused but figured he had some things he had to get done. I was buzzing around getting Jude ready for swimming lessons and Stu said he couldn't hold off on my Birthday surprise any longer. I went outside and a car transporter was outside with a chili red mini cooper on it with white racing stipes! What?! My complete dream car! We took it for a spin and it's amazing! I was SO surprised. We packed up and hitched the truck and I headed to swimming lessons. Jude did great! Stu got home from work and we were on the road. I had to take the mini for a quick drive to the gas station before we left. We drove to Salina, KS that night - through Topeka and the Flint Hills. We passed a caravan of 3 Airstreams - most likely headed home from the International Rally...
